#AsanasForGrowth Day 6: Grow- Yogi’s Choice 🌱
A story for you: It’s August 15, 2017, and the setting is Lysebotn, Norway, @kayla_richards_locke had watched one too many videos of @findingmorgantyler and @gypsyon__ doing forearm stands.
She had enough.
She decided, “Kayla, you will never be able to do these amazing things you see on videos unless you start getting up and trying to do them everyday.” So that was it, I started doing yoga every day and I started trying to get upside down in September. By November, I was doing headstands for longer than a minute, but #pinchamayurasana was NOT coming with ease.
Through all the falls, I just couldn’t stop training.
I started by doing 200 bicycle crunches a day, 200 regular sit-ups, and 100 squats.
Then each day I would move that number up. Focusing on building the core strength necessary for inversions.
I would sit and pick apart the videos from Hannah, Morgan and all the other incredible @aloyoga yogis, and I would write out different pieces of each workout I saw, writing down the poses/reps that were strength building for the core and shoulders.
Then I realized I had found vinyasa.
Now look at me fly! The pincha holds are getting longer day by day.
There are dreams in this life that you don’t know you’re capable of dreaming until you conquer them. That doesn’t mean you slow your roll along any part of the way.
Set a steady trajectory for yourself, and watch yourself grow. Change your habits up a bit, and stick to a new routine. 🌱
This challenge has been an incredible experience to connect with souls all around the world who are focused on their personal growth, and that’s just inspiring. I love you all so much for joining us on this spiritual and physical journey. 💚
