The 4th of July was my mom’s all time favorite holiday, and skydiving was quite possibly her all time favorite thing.
I am so grateful that she brought me around the sport at such a young age. .
Since my mom commit suicide, I can’t lie— it’s been really difficult for me to get back into the air. I have only made roughly 25-30 skydives since my mom’s death, when before her death I had made 200 skydives in one year.
I was constantly thinking about my mom in the plane, getting stared at people that knew her, they’re clearly worried, and wondering if I’m okay, but never actually asking. I felt strange knowing my mom commit suicide on the exact day my USPA membership expired. Knowing the parachute I jump every time was essentially bought with her money. It was just weird.
After a lot of thought, time, and a bit of therapy— Today, I’m hoping to get back in the air again.
I can’t think of a better way to honor my mom today. ❤️💙
